"Are Liberals and Conservatives Physiologically Different,” will be the featured talk at the Jan. 21 Lincoln Science Café.  John Hibbing Ph.D., University of Nebraska-Lincoln Foundation Regents University Professor of Political Science, will speak from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the red9 at 9th and M streets.

Last fall Dr. Hibbing was featured on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

Dr. Hibbing’s work uses economic games, functional magnetic resonance imaging, evolutionary theory and behavioral genetics to identify the deeper biological causes of social, and especially political, behavior. He has been a NATO fellow in science and senior Fulbright fellow and has received six National Science Foundation grants.

Science Cafe is a free educational event sponsored by UNMC and other groups to increase the population’s science literacy. Hosted by UNMC, BioNebraska and the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, Lincoln Science Cafe is held on Thursdays every other month. A more scientifically literate populace is a goal in UNMC’s strategic plan. The goal of the committee has been to introduce and get young adults interested in science by presenting it in a casual setting.
