About $12,500 was raised for the Nebraska AIDS Project at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s pre-party on Dec. 5 for Night of a Thousand Stars.
The total raised at this year’s party, which was once again held at Pauli’s Blue Room, was up $2,300 from the amount raised last year. The event was attended by staff from UNMC and its partners, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center.
Approximately $120,000 was raised during the night to support NAP through pre-parties around the city followed by the main event held at the Holland Center for the Performing Arts.
“We appreciate everyone who joined us for this fun evening at Pauli’s,” said Susan Swindells, M.B.B.S., the Terry K. Watanabe Professor of Internal Medicine in the Section of Infectious Diseases and medical director of the UNMC HIV Clinic. “Every year, this event provides invaluable support for the Nebraska AIDS Project.”
About 60 people attended the UNMC pre-party, which was hosted by:

As the state’s only academic health science center, UNMC is on the leading edge of health care. Breakthroughs are possible because hard-working researchers, educators and clinicians are resolved to work together to fuel discovery. In 2009, UNMC’s extramural research support topped $100 million for the first time, resulting in the creation of 3,600 jobs in Nebraska. UNMC’s academic excellence is shown through its award-winning programs, and its educational programs are responsible for training more health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution. Through its commitment to education, research, patient care and outreach, UNMC and its hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, have established themselves as one of the country’s leading health care centers. UNMC’s physician practice group, UNMC Physicians, includes 550 physicians in 50 specialties and subspecialties who practice primarily in The Nebraska Medical Center.
