Sen. Sullivan ‘happy’ with UNMC’s research approach

The Eppley Institute professor gave the labs the jovial moniker because they have many windows that let in a lot of sunlight. This is a stark contrast to many other labs elsewhere, Dr. Band said.

The cross-disciplinary research that goes on in the labs should be a cause for joy for Nebraskans, said Sullivan, who toured UNMC on Tuesday.

“It’s very exciting to see the collaboration that takes place here,” Sullivan said. “That the researchers are taking a holistic approach to their work tells me they are definitely headed in the right direction.”

During her UNMC visit, Sullivan also:

• Met with family medicine chairman Mike Sitorius, M.D.;
  
• Toured the Sorrell Center’s Clinical Skills Laboratory; and
  
• Discussed workforce shortages with College of Nursing faculty.
