UNMC’s Athena Ramos named to ’40 under 40′ list

UNMC’s Athena Ramos has been named one of the Midlands Business Journal’s 2009 Top 40 under 40 award recipients.

Ramos, who is a program coordinator in the Center for Reducing Health Disparities in UNMC’s College of Public Health, was selected along with other metropolitan area professional men and women under the age of 40.

She is well-known and respected for her work in the Latino community to increase leadership, improve the health of youth, women and their families and reduce health disparities.

In addition, Ramos volunteers with numerous organizations including:

• The Omaha Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Council;
  
• Heartland Latino Leadership Conference; and
  
• Nebraska Minority Public Health Association.

Ramos and the other 40 under 40 honorees will be recognized Dec. 11.
