UNMC researchers and their inventions will be celebrated during Innovation Week, which starts Monday.
UNeMed has planned a series of activities to highlight and assist individuals in moving novel discoveries from the lab to the marketplace.
The highlight of the week comes on Thursday when UNeMed — the technology
commercialization arm for UNMC — recognizes individuals for their new inventions, patents and licensed technology at the 2009 Research Innovation Awards.
UNeMed will honor 25 inventors of technology that have resulted in 11 separate commercial licenses, and 14 inventors who have transformed eight different inventions into issued patents. This past year, UNeMed has assisted 102 inventors in disclosing 63 new invention notifications.

- UNeMed’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Linder, M.D.; and
- Michael Dixon, Ph.D., president and chief operating officer of UNeMed.
Awards will be presented to individuals with new inventions, issued patents and licensed technology. A lifetime achievement award and the $10,000 new invention contest check also will be presented, followed by a reception in the DRC atrium.
