Thanks to strong interest from medical center employees, an adviser from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will be back on campus in October to meet with employees about advancing their education.

Dates and times for the adviser visit will be published soon.

This past summer, UNO advisers came to campus and met with 36 medical center employees. Sixteen of these employees applied to UNO for this semester, including five who had never attended a post-secondary institution.

The adviser meetings contributed to the strong enrollment numbers for a pair of UNO classes held on the UNMC campus this semester. Public speaking reached its maximum enrollment of 20 students (six are UNMC employees) and film appreciation is nearly full at 17 students (three are UNMC employees).

Additionally, eight employees are currently in the Bachelors of General Studies degree program at UNO. The BGS program is a fully accredited, 125 hour undergraduate degree program for students 21 and older. With a BGS degree, students can choose from one of more than 40 areas of concentration or choose three areas of emphasis.
