UNMC emeritus professor receives Governor’s Bioscience Award

Wayne Ryan, Ph.D.

Gov. Dave Heineman presented the inaugural Governor’s 2009 Bioscience Award to Wayne Ryan, Ph.D., during the recent Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association annual meeting.

Dr. Ryan is chairman of the board and CEO of Streck and a UNMC emeritus professor of obstetrics/gynecology.

Dr. Ryan has been awarded 58 patents, which ranks him at the top of Nebraska inventors.

His scientific observations and developmental efforts led to the formation of Streck in 1978. Currently, Streck is a world-class manufacturer of medical products and reagents.

More than 350 employees work at Streck’s Omaha facility to support manufacturing and biomedical research in Nebraska.
