Alex Hewlett, D.O., assistant professor of in the section of gastroenterology, is among the many new faculty members at UNMC.

Name: Alex Hewlett, D.O.

Title: Assistant professor of gastroenterology

Duties: Dr. Hewlett will see gastroenterology and hepatology patients in the internal medicine clinic, as well as perform endoscopy at The Nebraska Medical Center and the VA medical center in Omaha.

Degree: D.O., Ohio University College of College of Osteopathic Medicine

Residency: Internal medicine residency, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston

Fellowship: Gastroenterology fellowship, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston

Previous positions: Assistant professor, gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston

Clinic hours:

• Mondays at the internal medicine clinic;
  
• Tuesday at the endoscopy clinic; and
  
• Friday at the Omaha VA Medical Center
