The graduating residents — who will be recognized at ceremonies on Friday and Saturday — are:
- Erica Burns, M.D., who is headed to Seattle for a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center;
- Casey Johnston, M.D., who will do a sports medicine fellowship at Minnesota Sports Medicine in Minneapolis;
- Brian Kleiber, M.D., who will go to St. Louis for a foot and ankle fellowship at Washington University Medical Center; and
- Justin Siebler, M.D., who will do an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa.

- A presentation from visiting professor Lawrence Dorr, M.D., titled “Medicine, My Medicine.” Dr. Dorr is founder and medical director of The Dorr Arthritis Institute in Los Angeles and a world leader in hip and joint replacement surgery and research;
- Final oral presentations from the graduating residents; and
- Mark Gilbert’s presentation of a seminar titled “Art and Medicine.” Gilbert — a portrait artist from Scotland who served as UNMC’s artist-in-residence for two years, completed a series of portraits of patients and caregivers as part of a research project that explored the connections between art and medicine.
A total joint symposium will be held on Saturday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010 and will feature scientific lectures and case presentations, including a seminar from Dr. Dorr titled “Orthopedic Antitoxin.”
