He practiced for about 40 years as an ob/gyn physician and also worked with UNMC residents for many years. Dr. Rumbolz earned his medical degree from UNMC in 1944.

Since 1992, he has sponsored the Rumbolz Visiting Professor, which allows top ob/gyn physicians to come to UNMC each year to speak and spend three days with UNMC residents.

“It’s an opportunity that residents at many other institutions don’t get,” said Teresa Berg, M.D., associate ob/gyn professor at UNMC.

Dr. Berg worked with Dr. Rumbolz when she did her residency at UNMC in the late 1980s.

“It was a very nice experience,” she said. “Dr. Rumbolz was a very good teacher who let us do a lot of things as residents.”
