Lookin’ at U — Deb Motl

picture disc.Quick, think of five things others should know about you.

That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”

Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee or student to feature.

This week, we feature Deb Motl, EEO specialist in UNMC Human Relations and the employee relations representative for several campus units including the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health and the School of Allied Health Professions.

Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Deb:

  • I was born in Scottsdale, Ariz., and attended Arizona State University. Go Sun Devils! I have since adopted the Huskers and cheer for them at every opportunity — except, of course, if it interferes with the “Devils.”

  • My husband Jim originally is from Omaha and we moved here 11 years ago from Arizona. We love the people and enjoy the change of seasons. My family has since moved up to Omaha.

  • We try to fly down to Arizona once a year to visit with friends, attend spring training baseball or Cardinal football games.

  • We have two dogs, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named “Maddie” and a German Shorthair Pointer/Chocolate Lab Mix named “Niles” who believe they should be considered as people. I confess, we treat them that way.

  • I have been in the human resources field for 15 years and love working with people — especially the employees at UNMC!

Read UNMC Today next Thursday to see who is featured in the next Lookin’ at U article. Who knows — it could be U.
