Alan Langnas, D.O., and members of his staff show off the autographed photo the UNMC professor of surgery received from the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Dr. Langnas received the picture for serving as a consultant for recent episodes about a young boy in need of a liver transplant.
“Grey’s Anatomy” airs on Thursday nights and episodes featuring the young transplant patient have aired this month. Dr. Langnas gave the autographed picture to his staff, which includes many fans of the show. As transplant director at UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Langnas leads the nation’s busiest intestinal transplant program. The show’s writers asked him to provide details about care options and surgical procedures related to the boy’s case.
