Edibaldo Silva, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of surgical oncology, is among the many new faculty members at UNMC.

Name: Edibaldo Silva, M.D., Ph.D.

Title: Associate professor of surgical oncology in the division of surgical oncology at UNMC.

Medical degree: University of Illinois School of Medicine, Chicago, 1980

Post-graduate degree: Ph.D., molecular genetics, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, 1976

Residency: General surgery, Loyola University School of Medicine, Chicago (Maywood), 1980-1985

Fellowship: Surgical oncology, University of Illinois, Chicago, 1985-1987

Research interests: Breast cancer and breast cancer genetics.

Previous positions:

  • Associate professor of surgical oncology, Creighton University, 2003-2008;
  • Assistant professor of surgical oncology, Jefferson College of Medicine, Philadelphia, 1989-1999; and
  • Assistant professor of surgical oncology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Memberships: Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Breast Disease, American Society of Breast Surgeons
