UNMC is calling for runners, walkers, stroller pushers, wagon pullers and other foot travelers to participate in the 28th Annual Omaha Corporate Cup run on Sunday, Sept. 21.
UNMC has fielded a team for each Corporate Cup and again asks employees and their family members to participate in the event, which benefits the American Lung Association.
Thousands of walkers and runners are expected to participate in this year’s event, which starts at 8:15 a.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, 1804 Capitol Ave.
“This is always a fun day and it supports a wonderful organization,” said UNMC Director of Business Services Keith Swarts, who helped organize the medical center’s first Corporate Cup team in 1980. “It’s a great way to get out and show UNMC’s support of the American Lung Association.”
The Omaha Corporate Cup — one of the premier running events in the nation and among the largest of corporate road races in the United States — helps fight lung disease, which is the third leading cause of death in the United States. More than 200,000 Nebraskans suffer from some form of lung disease.
Participants may choose between the 10K (6.2 miles) run/walk or the two-mile walk.
All participants and their families are invited to a street party following the event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
