UNMC to hold dance on Aug. 18 to honor late board member

Dress as your favorite rock star and get ready to boogie at the first annual Carol Goranson Memorial Dance on Aug. 18.
All proceeds from the benefit dance will go to support the adult evening respite and rehabilitation program at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.
Goranson, who died last year, was a longtime board member of the Munroe-Meyer Institute Operating Board.
“Carol was a strong believer in the healing power of music for all people, so it’s fitting that this dance be held in her honor,” said Mary McHale, a member of the C. Louis Meyer Foundation Board and friend of Goranson.
The dance, which is being sponsored by the C. Louis Meyer Foundation Board, is being held in the auditorium of the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Student Life Center located at 39th and Jones Streets.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and local cover band Bittersweet will play from 7 to 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is $5 per person and $10 per family and can be purchased at the door.
“All UNMC and Nebraska Medical Center employees, faculty, staff, students and their families are invited to attend,” said Rick Boldt, president of the C. Louis Meyer Foundation Board. “It’s going to be a great time.”
Anyone needing one-to-one assistance must be accompanied by a staff or aide.
