Michael Brattain, Ph.D., associate director of basic research at the Eppley Cancer Center, is among the many new faculty members at UNMC.
Name: Michael Brattain, Ph.D.
Title: Associate director of basic research at the Eppley Cancer Center
Duties: As associate director of basic research, Dr. Brattain oversees all basic science research initiatives at the cancer center, including collaborative and translational research opportunities.
Specialities: His research is focused on the identification and exploitation of new molecular targets in cancer, specifically molecules that prevent cancer from arising and molecules that are mutated.
Previous positions: Senior vice president for basic science at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y. Also served as chairman of the department of pharmacology and therapeutics of the Grace Drug Center at Roswell Park.
Education: Ph.D. in biochemistry from Rutgers University
Lab hours: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
