2007 Administrative Colloquium graduates

Thirteen UNMC faculty members last month completed the Administrative Colloquium, a yearlong development course for faculty assuming leadership roles within the medical center.

“Self-assessment surveys show that management skills increase during the year-long colloquium,” said Pascale Lane, M.D., professor of pediatric nephrology and Helen Freytag Distinguished Professor of pediatrics, who co-directs the program with Tim Durham, D.D.S., chairman of hospital dentistry.

Participants said the course improved their time management, leadership and interaction skills. “This was a helpful journey of self-discovery,” said one participant.

Said another: “The colloquium was a great way to meet others . and work together to create the best atmosphere for learning, research and service.”

The program is geared toward mid-career professionals with administrative positions who have no formal administrative training. The curriculum includes material regarding self-management skills and skills to manage others.
