UNMC dental and dental hygiene students sweep awards

Sixteen graduate, dental and dental hygiene students received $1,400 in cash awards for their table top presentations at the 21st Annual Professional’s Day 40th Annual Student Scientific Program at the UNMC College of Dentistry April 6.
The cash awards were made possible through contributions from the Nebraska Dental Hygienists Association, International College of Dentists, Lincoln District Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, P & G Professional Oral Health-Crest-Oral-B
Premier Dental Products Company, and Dentsply, the largest manufacturer of dental prosthetics and consumable dental products.
Third-year dental student, Claire Stroede, was selected to represent the college at the annual American Dental Association meeting in San Francisco later this year.
Stroede, who presented research on the effects of cement viscosity on seating force and seating time for a maxillary anterior veneer, received first place in the scientific program and a $200 cash award.
“I was truly honored to be chosen as Nebraska’s student research representative. I have never been to the west coast, so this will be a real treat for me. I’d like to thank our administration and sponsors for supporting student research programs,” Stroede said.
