Cancer survivors amaze and they inspire.

The Nebraska Medical Center will honor their determination and spirit at “A Celebration of Courage — An Evening for Cancer Survivors” on May 2 at the Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha.

Nebraska native and star of the hit television series “CSI,” Marg Helgenberger, will return to Omaha to host the evening. The program begins at 7 p.m. and Karrin Allyson and the Omaha Symphony will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. A dessert and coffee reception will follow the concert.

A highlight of the evening will come as the 2007 Star of Courage recipient accepts his award.

This year’s honoree, William Penry, fought a long and challenging battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Through it all, Penry persevered. May 2 will mark his 4,612th day of cancer-free living.

Penry of Omaha, is the founder and owner of Air Power of Nebraska Inc., Omaha Pneumatic Equipment Company and Caskel Leasing Company. He also has been active in numerous community organizations.

All cancer survivors and a guest are invited to attend the performance and program free of charge. General admission to the festivities is $25. Tickets, which include a pre-program patron party with Marg Helgenberger, are available for $75.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling the The Nebraska Medical Center’s Office of Development at 552-2249.
