Faculty and staff will have the opportunity on Tuesday, July 26, to learn about the recent increases in salaries and retirement benefits, as well as information on the campus’s efforts in garnering national media, a new automated system for sick and vacation leave, and changes to UNMC’s Thank ‘U’ award program.
All of this information will be presented at two Chancellor’s Forums. The forums will begin at 8:30 a.m. and at noon, and both will be held in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheather. Muffins and other breakfast items will be available at the morning forum, and a sack lunch will be served to the first 100 people at the noon forum.
The noontime forum will be broadcast on NET2, Channel 103. The following sites have been reserved for its viewing:
- In Lincoln, Dixon Hall at the College of Dentistry;
- In Kearney, Room 217 of the Communications Center Building on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus;
- In Scottsbluff, Room 205 at the Panhandle Station.
At the forums, UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., will discuss many aspects of the campus, including salaries and retirement benefits; the strategic plan; tobacco settlement funding; and the campus’ strategic missive in three areas – research, education and controlling health care costs.
Margaret Bumann, special projects coordinator in the department of public affairs, will provide an overview of UNMC’s national media efforts. John Russell, executive director of Human Resources, will unveil revisions to the Thank ‘U’ Program and will explain a new automated system for submitting leave time.
In addition, a drawing will take place at each forum for several items of UNMC merchandise.
Note: A sign language interpreter will be present at the noontime forum.
