Jay Hawkins, left, presents the Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award to Jay Allison. |
The award honors volunteer faculty members who effectively and generously donate their time, skill and experience to teach medical students. A committee of medical students nominated Dr. Allison, who received his award at the annual AOA banquet on Thursday (March 31).
Faith Fitzgerald, M.D., an internist and professor of medicine and assistant dean of humanities and bioethics at the University of California Davis, Sacramento, was the banquet’s distinguished visitor. Earlier in the day, Dr. Fitzgerald gave the AOA lecture on “Teaching the Humanities in Medicine: The Magical Medical History Tour.”
Robert Grissom, M.D., left, and Gerald “Jay” Moore, M.D., present the Grissom book award to Steve Schinker. |
