An extraordinary partnership between two nationally ranked organizations – UNMC and its hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center – is the foundation for success, campus leaders say.
As a result, the two institutions have developed the 2004 Partnership Strategy, with a goal to become a world-renowned, academic health sciences center.
“The Partnership Strategy highlights our commitment to moving ahead together,” said UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D. “It is only through the dedication, creativity and hard work of each employee that we can become world-renowned in education, patient care, research and outreach.”
“We’re moving rapidly toward a close, constructive working relationship with the hospital,” said UNMC College of Medicine Dean John Gollan, M.D., Ph.D. “We are partners after all and recognize that what’s good for the hospital is good for UNMC and vice versa.”
The partnership strategy document, which is being distributed to employees, outlines each organization’s critical success factors and strategies.
UNMC’s goals are to:
- enhance and expand the educational environment;
- increase its prominence as a research health sciences center;
- advance community/campus partnerships for health;
- create a culturally competent organization;
- develop selected new technologies to advance health education, science and the Nebraska economy; and
- create a culture that builds employee loyalty and satisfaction.
The Nebraska Medical Center, meanwhile, is focused on gaining financial strength by being the market leader in a set of clinical services, building regional and national recognition through excellence in research, education, best practices and reputation, and achieving responsive infrastructure that exceeds patient, physician and staff expectations.
