As result of a renegotiated contract, all United Airlines Business and Companion fares purchased through the Travel & Transport Web site will have no transaction fee. The new rate, which was $10 per ticket, went into effect Jan. 1 and will remain in effect until June 30.
There also is no transaction fee to purchase business and companion tickets from United Airlines’ partners, including Lufthansa, SAS, Varig, British Midlands and Mexicana – if consumers use the Travel and Transport Web site, www.tandt.com/ts/unmc.
Ticket fees for all other airlines, such as Northwest, Delta, American, American West, Frontier and others, will remain. Those fees are $10 per ticket for Internet purchases and $20 per ticket for telephone purchases.
For all airline ticket purchases, maximum transaction fees have been changed to the following:
- Business Travel – $20 maximum,
- Business and Companion Travel – $30 maximum (Business Travel – $20, Companion Travel – $10)
- Business and Family Travel – $40 maximum (Business Travel – $20, Companion Travel – $10, Family Members – $10)
- Personal (Vacation) Travel (Employee and Family) – $50 maximum (Vacation Traveler – $20, Spouse – $20, Family Members – $10)
Starting Jan. 1, a $10 fee is being charged to all travel vouchers — a ticket price reduction or unused ticket vouchers that are transferable — that are issued and credited back to departments.
By utilizing either the Travel & Transport Web site or its telephone reservation service, the traveler has the exclusive service of rebooking for canceled and delayed flights, upgrading, re-ticketing, additional travel insurance and after hours.
