The campus is invited to attend today’s dedication ceremony for the Durham Research Center. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in the building’s auditorium. It will feature a number of dignitaries, as well as the philanthropists who made the Durham Research Center possible.
The $77 million state-of-the-art research building was built almost exclusively wiith private funds. Of the research center’s cost, Nebraska’s Congressional delegation secured $2.5 million in federal funds for the project. The private sector provided gifts for the rest of the cost; no state funds were involved.
An all-campus celebration, complete with refreshments and tours of the building’s first floor, will follow the dedication until 3 p.m. Jazz music will be provided until 1 p.m. Short- and long-sleeved T-shirts (sizes S to XXL) will be available for purchase at $6 and $9, respectively. Commemorative calendar posters featuring scientific images from five research areas will be available to employees at the celebration.
Employees at UNMC’s off-campus sites can view today’s dedication ceremony live. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Internet at www.unmc.edu/durham and archived for later viewing. It also will be broadcast live via satellite on NET 2, Channel 105 to the following sites:
