Mayor Mike Fahey will host a town hall meeting Nov. 5 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Field Club of Omaha, Inc., clubhouse, 3615 Woolworth Ave. He will address concerns presented by residents at previous Destination Midtown meetings.
A SWOT analysis of midtown Omaha looked at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that exist in the area bordered by Cuming on the north, Center Street on the south, 24th Street on the east and Saddle Creek Road on the west. The goal of Destination Midtown is to define steps for creating a new, vibrant destination for the Omaha area.
Several residents and business leaders have expressed concerns about crime, absentee landlords and the perception that midtown is not the best place to live, work or shop.
Robert Peters, city planning director, said there will be several staff members at the town hall meeting to discuss the issues identified at the various workshops. Those staff members will include representatives from the police, parks and public works departments and the city prosecutor’s office.
“The mayor will be ready to take questions and provide direction to establishing resolutions to issues brought up at the previous meetings,” Peters said.
The public is encouraged to attend.
