The Lifestyle Enhancement Center, UNMC’s facility for complementary and alternative medicine, will close on June 25, 2003.
Cory Shaw, executive vice president and chief administrative officer of University Medical Associates, said all services currently being offered at the LEC will be available through June 25. Gift certificates also may be redeemed during this time.
UMA and UNMC are exploring alternative uses for the LEC’s location at 2255 S. 132nd Street, Suite B, in Omaha, Shaw said.
The LEC opened March 2001 under the direction of David Bouda, M.D. Dr. Bouda resigned his post in March 2003.
“With the departure of Dr. Bouda, and the difficult budget challenges facing UNMC and UMA, it wasn’t feasible to continue operating the LEC,” Shaw said.
Shaw also said that continued development of the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Program would be on hold, pending the resolution of funding and leadership issues.
