Aging Interest Group announces photo contest winners

First-place winner.

UNMC’s Aging Interest Group has announced the winners of its 2003 photo contest.

The Aging Interest Group consists of medical students who are interested in geriatric medicine and the issues involved with aging.

The contest, which was open to amateur and professional photographers in Nebraska, is designed to communicate the character and experiences of older adults and challenge the stereotypes of the elderly.

The winners are:

Second-place winner.

First-place — Maine Meditation by Christine M. Higgins
Second-place – Grandma’s First Cubs’ Game by Ryan Ramaekers
Third-place – 55 Years of Loving by Janice Taylor
People’s Choice Award – Fourth of July by Mary Anne Tekesky

The photos are on display in University Hospital’s third floor display case. They also can be viewed on the geriatric Web site at www.unmc.edu/intmed/geriatrics/default.htm.
