Effective today, UNMC will implement a number of policies and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Beginning today, the Notice of Privacy Practices will be given to patients during their first treatment. The document tells the patient how their medical information may be used and disclosed.
