UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., has appointed a 13-person search committee to identify candidates for the position of the UNMC College of Nursing dean. Ada Lindsey, Ph.D., announced earlier this month that she will retire from the position, effective July 31, 2003.
“I appreciate the willingness of the search committee members to serve,” Dr. Maurer said. “The dean’s post in the College of Nursing is a critically important position for the Medical Center as we face the challenges ahead.”
Mary Haven, associate dean of the College of Medicine-School of Allied Health Professions, will lead the search committee. Other members are:
- Samuel Augustine, Pharm.D., associate professor in the College of Pharmacy;
- Judy Billings, Ph.D., professor and assistant dean of the College of Nursing-Kearney division;
- Dave Crouse, Ph.D., interim vice chancellor for academic affairs and interim dean for graduate studies;
- Lynne Farr, professor in the College of Nursing and president of the UNMC Faculty Senate;
- Monica Fisher, a student in the College of Nursing;
- Gloria Gross, Ph.D., associate professor and assistant dean of the College of Nursing-West Nebraska division;
- Jeffrey Hill, M.D., associate dean in the College of Medicine;
- Joan Sivers, associate professor and assistant dean in the College of Dentistry;
- Rita Van Fleet, vice president of patient care services at Nebraska Health System, UNMC’s clinical partner;
- Susan Noble Walker, Ph.D., professor and chairwoman of the department of gerontological, psychosocial and community health nursing in the College of Nursing;
- Lani Zimmerman, professor and assistant dean of the College of Nursing-Lincoln division; and
- Bernice Yates, Ph.D., associate professor, associate dean of the College of Nursing-Omaha.
