Runners, walkers celebrate College of Medicine centennial

picture disc. Approximately 100 people turned out Sunday morning for the College of Medicine’s centennial run/walk.

The four-mile run/walk, which commemorated the College of Medicine’s 100th anniversary of joining the University of Nebraska, took place on the Field Club Trail, south of the UNMC Student Life Center.

“It’s been an enjoyable event,” said Bradette Varilek of Gibbon, a fourth-year medical student who served on the planning committee. “Everyone’s been great at helping us out.”

Dave Carver, Ph.D., director of Counseling & Student Development, laced up his running shoes for the four-mile run. “It was a nice course and I enjoyed seeing all the runners out here,” he said. “The students did a good job of setting up the race.”
