UNMC may not have a championship football or softball team.
But, along with NHS and UMA, it does sponsor a winning cycling team.
The NHS/UNMC/UMA-sponsored cycling team, Team Kaos, dominated the Quad Cities Criterium in Rock Island, Ill., over the Memorial Day weekend. Team Kaos riders Kevin Wilkins, left, and Darin Schlake, both of Lincoln, placed second and first, respectively, in one of the toughest events of the year.
The team races nearly every weekend and will compete in the Omaha Criterium on Aug. 3-4. A criterium race is one where cyclists repeat laps on a closed course.
At the 2002 Life-a-Thon, Team Kaos riders joined Alan Langnas, M.D., for a photo. The riders are, from left to right, Marco Vasquez, Jordan Brasch and James Wolfe. Vasquez is the president of Team Kaos and a perfusionist at NHS.
