Information session today on health insurance guidelines

An employee informational session regarding the university’s health insurance plan has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10, at Cooper Auditorium in the College of Nursing.

David Lechner, vice president for business and finance at the University of Nebraska, will be on hand to discuss the health insurance plan’s new guiding principles, which were set forth by the NU Health Care Advisory Committee. President L. Dennis Smith, Ph.D., formed the committee to examine the structure of the university’s health insurance plan, because of spiraling costs and the need to provide affordable health insurance to university faculty, staff and retirees. Lechner led that committee, which included Don Leuenberger and John Russell from UNMC.

All employees should have received a letter on the subject about a month ago. Employees can review the guidelines that the advisory committee has put forth at: www.uneb.edu/Employees/benefits.html. With specific questions regarding the current health insurance plan, contact the campus benefits office at 559-4340 or benefits@unmc.edu.
