UNMC College of Dentistry Honors Outstanding Faculty, Students

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln

hosted its 14th Annual Professionals Day recently. The event celebrates

scholarly activities and provides students, faculty and the dental community

an opportunity to share professional and academic activities.

The faculty and students listed below were honored with awards and recognition.

Thirty-two students with a cumulative grade point average of at least

3.6 were honored as the top 15 percent of their class. The students are

Student Awards

COLUMBUS Benjamin Walline (dentistry student) — Pierre Fauchard Academy

Dental Student Scholarship Award — The award is to honor an individual

who has demonstrated great potential of developing into an outstanding

leader in the dental profession. Qualities of intelligence, imagination,

initiative, and integrity, as well as communication skills enter into the

selection. The award carries with it a check for $1,500. In 1996, the Pierre

Fauchard Academy, an international honor dental organization, through its

foundation, initiated a Dental Student Scholarship Award program for all

U.S. dental schools.

MAPLETON, UTAH Ryan Hamilton (dentistry student) — Dr. Raymond Steinacher

Award– The award recognizes outstanding didactic and clinical skills in

prosthodontics. The award was created by the UNMC College of Dentistrys

Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry to honor Dr. Ray Steinacher,

an outstanding faculty member of the college for 36 years. Dr. Steinacher

was a highly respected teacher who inspired and motivated students and

colleagues with his integrity and dedication to patient service.
