UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute Women’s Guild Sponsors June 13 Garden Walk to Benefit Children, Adults with Disabilities

The 32nd Annual Garden Walk sponsored by the Women’s Guild of the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation, a unit of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, will be held Sunday, June 13.  Proceeds go to support the therapeutic, training and research activities benefiting children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities and chronic handicapping conditions.

Carla Imray is chair of the event and Wanda Utecht is co-chair.

The gardens feature special ideas in landscaping, planting, and patio treatments.  Expert nursery personnel will be available at each site to answer questions.  The Garden Walk is a rain or shine event.

“We truly need and appreciate the community support we receive by the attendance at the Garden Walk,” Imray said. “Without community help, it would not be possible for the guild to give support to the families undergoing treatment and give grants to students which enable them to train with the professional staff.”

Visitors will tour gardens at six locations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The homeowners and sites are: John and DeeDee Cox, 4411 N. 92nd Ave.; Guy and Jayne Stoller, 9116 Franklin St.; Linie and Monica Humpal, 1605 N. 136th St.; Dick and Shirley Runnels, 13612 Parker Cr.; Dick, Melanie and Morgan Kirshenbaum, 12422 Rose Lane Rd.; Dee Maly, 8506 Broadmoor Dr.; Howard and Jennifer Duncan, 1504 S. 83rd St.
