Participants Sought for Multiple Sclerosis Research Study at UNMC

The University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking participants for

a research study that will investigate the effectiveness of an experimental

therapy for multiple sclerosis attacks.

Patients with multiple sclerosis may qualify for the study. MS attacks

include the onset of a new symptom or the sudden worsening of a previous

symptom, such as weakness, trouble walking, dizziness, loss of coordination,

numbness or vision loss.

The investigational treatment used in this study is administered

shortly after the start of an MS attack.

Patients with multiple sclerosis who know they are experiencing

an MS attack that started within the past 24 hours can contact the UNMC

hospital operator at (402) 559-4000 and ask the operator to page #2637

for immediate assistance.

For more information and to determine eligibility for the study,

call (402) 559-7857 any time of the day.

UNMC is the only public academic health science center in the state.

Through its commitment to research, education and patient care, UNMC has

established itself as one of the country’s leading centers for cancer research

and treatment and solid organ transplantation. More than $34 million in

research grants and contracts are awarded to UNMC scientists annually.

In addition, UNMC’s educational programs are responsible for training more

health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution.
