April 16, 1997 — UNMC Board of Counselors Names New Officers, Members

The University of Nebraska Medical Center Board of Counselors has elected
new officers and members. The Board of Counselors, which is comprised of
about 40 civic and business leaders from communities throughout the state,
acts as an advisory group to the UNMC chancellor in forming programs to
address the health needs of Nebraska.

Members meet three times a year to hear summaries on UNMC activities
by key administrators and for presentations by faculty and staff on specific
programs in education, research, patient care and outreach to underserved
populations. New members are appointed to serve four-year terms.

New officers are:

CRETE — Jacob Dering, pharmacist with Ken’s Sun Mart Pharmacy in Crete,
will serve as chair. He has served as a board member for several years,
including most recently as vice chair.

OMAHA — Sonja McCollister, vice president of Kirkpatrick Pettis in
Omaha, will serve as vice chair. She also has served on the board for several
years.

New members are:

OMAHA — Ed Cochran, president of SITEL’s Insurance Marketing Services.
Kathleen Jeffries, lifetime resident and community volunteer.

BELLEVUE– Yvonne Mathews, manager of contacts and office administration
for the City of Omaha Public Works Department.

MINDEN — Peter Jensen, D.D.S., is a dentist in Minden.

CRETE — Robert Muckel, Ph.D., professor of biology at Doane College
in Crete.

KEYSTONE — Kim Soper, coordinator of C.R.E.W. (Careers Readiness Education
for Work.),a school-to-work program in North Platte.

SIDNEY — Elizabeth "Ibs" Young, president of KSID-AM/FM radio
in Sidney.

GORDON — Kenneth Christoffersen, semi-retired pharmacist.
