As part of Minority Cancer Awareness Week, the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center
will be sponsoring free health and cancer screenings Saturday, April 26
at the Urban League Family Resource Center, 3040 Lake St., from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. The event is designed to help people "take their first step
to healthier living," which is the event’s theme.
Several types of screenings will be available to participants, including
blood pressure testing and cancer-risk assessments. There also will be
educational and informational material available on different forms of
cancer, such as breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer.
In addition, more material will be available on health risks posed by
certain activities, such as tobacco use. No reservations are needed for
the event. For more information, call 559-4315.
