The University of Nebraska Medical Center has named Wei Wang, M.D.,
Ph.D., as this year’s winner of the College of Medicine’s Young Investigator
award. Dr. Wang is an assistant professor of physiology and biophysics.
Dr. Wang received the award recently during the Ninth Annual College
of Medicine’s Young Investigator Symposium, which honors junior faculty
who conduct outstanding research. Dr. Wang was selected from eight UNMC
researchers who were nominated for the honor.
His research presentation, titled, "Cardiovascular Reflex Mechanisms
in Heart Failure," studied the role of the sympathetic nerve in heart
failure. A native of China, Dr. Wang received a medical degree in 1982
from Anhui Medical College, Anhui Province of China and a doctorate in
physiology in 1987 from Shanghai Medical University. He has taught at UNMC
since 1988.
