Applicants

We welcome applications to our residency training program from all qualified candidates. We participate in the ERAS/NRMP match process. Similar to other neurosurgery residency training programs, our program is highly competitive. Candidates we rank in the match are typically graduates of U.S. medical schools, rank in the top quartiles of their medical school class, pass the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 examinations on the first attempt (with above-average USMLE Step 2 CK scores, and have excellent letters of recommendations (at least 2 letters from neurosurgeons). We require Step 2 CK scores in order for a candidate to be invited for an interview.

Applications must be processed through the ERAS. Interviews are by invitation only and are offered generally on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advantageous for applicants to submit their applications earlier rather than later after ERAS opens for application submission.

2024-2025 Interview Dates:

  • Friday, November 1, 2024
  • Friday, November 8, 2024
  • Friday, December 6, 2024
  • Friday, January 10, 2025

The application deadline for the March 2025 match is October 15, 2024.

Graduates of international medical schools must have clinical experience in the United States. Research experience in the U.S. is useful, but is not a substitute for clinical experience in the U.S. International medical graduates must include in their application materials ECFMG status report, visa status, and documentation of clinical medicine experience in the United States with letter(s) of recommendation from U.S. clinical supervisors.
