AANS Medical Student Chapter
The UNMC AANS Medical Student Chapter strives to provide early support and leadership training to medical students exploring a career in neurosurgery. The AANS Medical Student Chapter provides a forum for students to organize professional, educational, and research activities within individual programs, promote mentorship, and facilitate participation at a national level for the next generation of neurosurgical leaders.
Our vision: The AANS strongly believes in the mentorship and professional development of medical students interested in neurosurgery. To that end, the AANS will support activities that increase interest in neurosurgery as a career, promote neurosurgical education and foster early leadership. The AANS has committed to be the premier voice for medical students interested in neurosurgery, providing opportunities for medical student leadership, meeting participation, education, and research.
We host a variety of events throughout the academic year, including: distinguished-guest lecture series, resident-led case reviews, peer-to-peer journal clubs, and our most popular annual event- a skull-base dissection skills lab led by neurosurgery faculty and residents!
Membership eligibility in our AANS Medical Student Chapter is open to students at UNMC College of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine. For more information, please contact us at info.UNMC.AANS@gmail.com.
