Application Procedure

Applicants are required to complete theElectronic Residency Application Service(ERAS) to apply to our program and will need to supply forms that include demographic data, common documentation of accredited medical school and three letters of recommendation as well as performance on USMLE exams.

For the 2024 ERAS®cycle, our program will be collecting and reviewing data from applicants’ supplemental ERAS applications. Completion of the standard MyERAS application is a requirement; completion of the supplemental ERAS application is optional.   The supplemental ERAS application is designed to help applicants share more information about themselves and assist our program in finding applicants that fit our program’s setting and mission. Once the ERAS applications are received, the Program Director, along with other faculty members, perform a holistic review of the applications and interviews candidates whose experiences, attributes and academic performance align with our mission. During the interview, the applicants meet, at a minimum, with the Program Director and two other faculty members from UNMC.

A meeting of the faculty, including the chief residents, is set up to review and discuss the applications. At the end of the meeting, a ranking list is generated of all the applicants who meet the standards set up by our residency program. The ranking list is finalized by the Program Director and submitted to the Match.
