Disability Supports
Knowing who to talk to and where to go to access services for a loved one’s disability is challenging for many families.
That is why families turn to UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute.
Staff at MMI offer resources, guidance and information to support people with disabilities and their caregivers.
MMI is Nebraska’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities
The UCEDD team at MMI provides programs, supports and resources for families that promote independence, self-determination, productivity, and integration of all individuals with developmental disabilities.
MMI is one of 68 national UCEDD programs across the U.S. and its territories uniquely affiliated with universities or medical centers.
In 1968, UNMC's Munroe-Meyer Institute was designated as a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
The four core functions of a UCEDD are to provide education and training, service, research and information sharing.
Caregiver Resources
Caregivers trust the Munroe-Meyer Institute for referral, resources, support and programs for the individuals with complex health needs in their care.
