Saturday Camp

An inclusive program for individuals with disabilities to pair with typically developing peers for social engagement in group activities.

This pediatric Saturday Recreation Program offered by the MMI Department of Recreational Therapy, is intended for children, teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Individuals ages 3-21 are invited to participate.

Program participants are paired with typically developing volunteers or activity technicians for social engagement opportunities. Small groups of similarly aged individuals rotate through three structured activities each week.

Typical programming includes:

  • Art.
  • Cooking.
  • Music.
  • Outdoor activities.
  • Social games.
  • Sports.
  • Swimming.

Details and Schedule

The Saturday Recreation Program typically operates as two 6-week sessions.

  • Space in this program is limited.
  • Transportation is not provided.
  • There is a fee for this program and scholarships may be available.

This program is not designed for individuals who need extensive 1-to-1 supervision and/or have severe behavior, such as aggressive acts towards others, self-injurious behaviors and/or destruction of property (throwing and/or damaging furniture or belongings.)
