Arnold Stern Teen Group

Encouraging friendship and fun while preparing participants for adult leisure independence and decision-making.
Our pediatric Arnold Stern Program offered by the MMI Department of Recreational Therapy, encourages friendship among teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through group activities within the community.
- Individuals ages 13-21 are invited to participate.
This program offers events across the Omaha metro area including:
- Bowling.
- Concerts.
- Holiday parties.
- Plays.
- Sporting events.
- Swimming.
- Other activities at MMI or across the Omaha metro.
Community outings enhance disability awareness within our local community and help prepare participants for adult leisure independence and decision-making. A trained recreational therapist runs this program with the assistance of activity technicians.
Details and SchedulingThe Arnold Stern Program is offered once a month and is typically scheduled on weekends.
- Space in this program is limited.
- Transportation is typically provided from our location to the event and back to MMI.
- There is a fee for this program and scholarships may be available.
This program is not designed for individuals who need extensive 1-to-1 supervision and/or have severe behavior, such as aggressive acts towards others, self-injurious behaviors and/or destruction of property (throwing and/or damaging furniture or belongings.)
