Leisure Explorer Club

A collaborative program providing adults with disabilities opportunities to socialize with peers while participating in leisure activities and community outings.

Outing destinations include art galleries, bowling alleys, Fontenelle Forest or other nature centers and more. Trained recreation therapists run this program with the assistance of activity technicians.

  • Individuals age 18 and older are invited to participate.

Eligibility

This is a collaborative program with the Vocational Development Center (VODEC) or Jerry Graesser Center in Omaha and only participants currently enrolled with either program are eligible.

Details and Schedule

Leisure Explorer Club is offered a few hours two days a week, typically as a Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Wednesday session based on which center the participant attends.

  • One day is used to swim in MMI’s heated pool.
  • The other is used for community outings.
  • Space in this program is limited.
  • Transportation is not provided.
  • There is a fee for this program and scholarships may be available.
