Medical Services
A Collaborative Approach to Clinical Support Across Disciplines
Although medical services at MMI have changed over the years, they go back to early in our history, including:
- 1920: Orthopedic Evaluation & Treatment
- 1922: Residential Medical Care
- 1959: Became a UNMC medical student training site
- 1967: Added Psychiatry, pediatrics, and neurology
- 1972: Started traveling outstates to offer medical services at MHCP clinics
- 1984: Added Genetic Medicine
- 2001: Began providing services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders
Currently, our medical team supports patient and their families as well as many disciplines working together at MMI to provide expert, evidence-based, innovative care.
We provide exceptional patient- and family-centered care to individuals with a variety of diagnoses across the lifespan. This is achieved through an interprofessional approach of providing care for the whole person.
