Our Autism Diagnostic Clinic provides a multidisciplinary evaluation and diagnosis of children suspected of having autism spectrum disorder.

Autism is a spectrum disorder, which means type and severity of symptoms can vary drastically from child to child.
  • Autism is a developmental disorder that affects behavior and communication.
  • While the most obvious signs tend to start showing around 2-3 years of age, children may be diagnosed earlier — possibly as early as 18 months old.
  • Children with autism spectrum disorder may also have other medical issues, such as digestive disorders, seizures, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, phobias, anxiety or sleep disorders.

Specialty Care

This clinic is a partnership between UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute and Children’s Nebraska and specialists from both groups provide services. Patients and families meet with a genetic counselor from MMI's Department of Genetic Medicine and a geneticist from Children's Nebraska. Both are qualified to diagnose, manage and treat genetic conditions.
