More Details
This research is studying a curriculum called Language for Learning which is aimed at increasing language skills with children. The curriculum is delivered by a trained provider in one-on-one appointments. We will study the effects of the curriculum for children with autism that use speech generating devices.
We will compare expressive and receptive language outcomes for children who receive the intervention for ten weeks to children who do not receive the intervention. Children that do not receive the intervention right away, can choose to receive it later.
All children will participate in research appointments at the beginning and end of the study. If your child is enrolled in the Language for Learning intervention group, they will come to MMI twice a week for 90 minutes for ten weeks of appointments.
This study is being conducted solely for research purposes and your participation is strictly voluntary. If you are interested in taking part, we will ask you to sign a form to indicate that you consent to taking part in the study. If you consent to participate, you may withdraw from the study at any time. You will receive compensation for participation.
