Empowerment and Accessibility

MMI offers these resources to promote acceptance of people with disabilities in the community.
Words have power. The Association of University Centers on Disabilities helps us understand the difference between People-First Language and Identity-First Language and when to use them.
Awareness days and months are opportunities to raise support and generate conversation. They offer a dedicated time to share important stories and ultimately encourage a deeper understanding of the issues that affect our lives. Each celebration plays a critical role in uniting communities and inspiring change.

Community at MMI
Community has positive impact on comprehensive health for patients and their families. Community helps foster respect and appreciation for differences which can lead to better decision-making at all levels within the Institute. A sense of community is what unlocks the power and value of access and engagement.
