Psychology

The Psychology Department at Munroe-Meyer Institute offers interdisciplinary education and clinical training.
Faculty are licensed psychologists provide intensive training experiences in psychological evaluation, treatment and research with children, adolescents and their caregivers and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Students and trainees working in the department with faculty include practicum students, psychology doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, and medical residents from the departments of Pediatrics and Family Medicine at UNMC.
Interdisciplinary Training
An integral part of the training includes active participation in the department's applied research program. Master's thesis and doctoral dissertation research may be formulated and conducted at MMI. The program's interdisciplinary nature includes formal and informal introductions to other disciplines within the Institute and cooperative work with them in case management of children.
Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowships
Munroe-Meyer Institute offers multiple training tracks:- Child and Adolescent Psychology.
- Integrated Primary Pediatric Care.
- Lifespan Psychology in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
- School-Based Applied Behavioral Analysis and Consultation.
- School-Based Mental Health Services.
- School-Based Psychological Services.
The fellowship includes a variety of training opportunities related to the provision of care in diverse pediatric settings, supervision for licensure hours, experiences in leadership, research (both independent and team-based), program evaluation and providing supervision to other trainees.
Didactic training is provided regarding clinical topics, clinical administrative issues, leadership in professional psychology, and preparation for the job market and the Examination for Professional Practice of Psychology. MMI Psychology Department faculty are primary supervisors for fellows in our APA membership fellowship program.

- Applications are due November 25, 2025.
- Interviews will take place virtually in December 2025.
